Project Management & IT Infrastructure
The Client: New York University Abu Dhabi
The Challenge: New York University planned to build a brand new campus in Abu Dhabi, one of the most ambitious projects of its kind. The construction was divided into two major phases. First a temporary campus was built in downtown Abu Dhabi, while the new state of the art campus was constructed on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island. NYU and NYUAD engaged Providge to help conceive of and implement the administrative systems needed to run the downtown campus, as well as lend project and portfolio management expertise to assist in the launch of the Saadiyat Island Campus.
The Solution: Our experts led a team that determined which systems were needed for the temporary campus, selected and implemented those systems, and tested their functionality. Our team also trained end users and was onsite in Abu Dhabi for the implementation of the systems. Providge delivered 12+ systems on time and on budget, allowing the back office to begin operating a year before the first students arrived. Additionally, we assisted in the launch of the Saadiyat Campus through effective portfolio management and executive reporting on all infrastructure and transition workstreams to help launch the campus.
The Difference: With this project, Providge took the admin systems piece of the new downtown campus from concept to reality over a two-year period and aided in the launch of one of the most ambitious campus developments in higher education. This project demonstrated our ability to innovate and follow through on difficult and complex international projects.
HUMAN RESOURCE SYSTEM ASSESSMENT & THREE-YEAR ROADMAP DEVELOPMENT
The Client: Carnegie Mellon University
The Challenge: The new Chief Human Resource Officer inherited a Workday system with very poor user acceptance. After working with Accenture, the workforce generally felt the application was inhibiting their ability to deliver high quality HR services.
The Solution: Providge worked with the Chief Human Resource Officer to understand her Vision of HR and led an Assessment of not only Workday, but other HR systems including Oracle Taleo, a Global HR System (FNIS), and a Salesforce developed Tuition Reimbursement system. The output of the assessment was a list of opportunities, prioritized based on Impact & Alignment to the Chief Human Resource Officer's vision and level of effort. From this list a three-year roadmap and resource plan was developed to reconfigure the Workday system to suit CMU’s needs, implement new Workday features, and Sunset the Oracle Taleo application. The assessment was followed by three years of support in the execution of the three-year roadmap.
The Difference: The assessment not only allowed staff at all levels to have their voices heard, it also provided the CHRO an opportunity to observe staff members perform and see who the strategic thinkers and team players were. The execution of the Roadmap led to broader acceptance of the core Workday application.
Workday Implementation
The Client: University of Maryland University College
The Challenge: The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) was grappling with outdated financial systems that hindered efficiency and accuracy. Their legacy systems for financial accounting, procurement, banking, asset management, and expense reporting were fragmented and inefficient. Additionally, the management of their Human Capital Management (HCM) system was disjointed, leading to operational challenges and user frustration.
The Solution: Providge Consulting was engaged to lead a full life cycle implementation of Workday Financials for UMUC. This comprehensive project included implementing robust systems for financial accounting to ensure precise reporting and compliance, streamlining procurement processes to improve supplier management and cost efficiency, enhancing cash management and automating settlement processes, enabling efficient tracking and management of the university’s assets, and simplifying expense reporting and reimbursement processes. Providge Consulting also provided assistance in managing the Workday HCM project, ensuring an integrated and cohesive approach to the university's financial and human capital systems.
The Difference: The implementation of Workday Financials and management support for the HCM project transformed UMUC’s operations. Automated processes reduced manual workloads, real-time data access improved decision-making, and integrated systems enhanced productivity. Advanced reporting ensured compliance, and the user-friendly interface increased staff satisfaction. Providge Consulting’s strategic implementation enabled UMUC to modernize their systems, resulting in significant operational improvements and a more efficient, satisfied workforce.
ERP EXPERTISE
The Client: Capital One
The Challenge: Capital One was in need of a simplified and comprehensive financial management system that would increase efficiency and effectiveness across the company. At the time, they were utilizing multiple systems and programs that did not talk to each other.
The Solution: Providge was chosen to help with Capital One’s first ERP installation after two failed attempts (led by other firms). One of the managing directors at the firm led efforts to implement, test, and customize the chosen system, and his work was so valued the client hired him on for subsequent phases of the project.
The Difference: Providge brought much-needed experience and expertise to the client that allowed us to not only get it right the first time but to make sure that the system was doing what it should do—streamlining the client’s internal processes so as to allow the company to focus on its core competencies. Capital One finally realized a fully integrated HCM/FSCM ERP.
Project Management Office (PMO)
The Client: Steward Health Care Network
The Challenge: An expanding multimillion dollar project portfolio with multiple vendor engagements began to strain operational resources with already thinly stretched teams. As additional initiatives were added, scalability became a limiting factor, and the attention required to deliver successful projects was more than the operational teams could absorb alone.
The Solution: Providge led the formation and staffing of a Project Management Office to standardize project delivery, centralize reporting, and create processes for project selection, tracking, and deployment. This approach increased operational efficiencies and helped to identify resource gaps to ensure coverage issues could be addressed.
The Difference: Providge resources worked closely with the talented employees at SHCN to streamline efforts that were previously siloed. Improving access to information and facilitating communication was key to the success of the many projects running in parallel. Providge resources led the delivery of enterprise projects, incluing centralized analytics tools, risk and quality gap assessment tools, measure calculation, program expansions, and an Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Project Management
The Client: Pfizer Company
The Challenge: A small remote team within the company was tasked with transitioning all of the company’s 70,000 employees across the globe from legacy devices to new equipment, operating system, and customized desktop images. The very talented and experienced engineers on that team needed a project manager who could keep them on task and on time while making sure the project stayed on budget.
The Solution: Providge was engaged on this project, and in addition to helping manage the engineering team, the Providge PM served as a connector between the engineers and the other program workstreams. Our project manager was able to coordinate multiple teams to work together to address problems and report on issues and progress across business lines, which enabled the delivery of a highly successful end product.
The Difference: Another consulting firm initially led the effort for higher rates and provided less experienced consultants than Providge did. Providge provided lower rates that truly suited the project’s budget while offering a PM with both project management and IT expertise. This combination gave her a unique amount of credibility with the engineers and other teams she worked with, and her approach to the work created a new communication culture that remains in place at today.
