The Challenge: A small remote team within the company was tasked with transitioning all of the company’s 70,000 employees across the globe from Windows XP devices to Windows 8 computers with customized desktop images. The very talented and experienced engineers on that team needed a project manager who could keep them on task and on time while making sure the project stayed on budget.
The Solution: Providge was engaged on this project, and in addition to helping manage the engineering team, the Providge PM served as a connector between the engineers and the other program workstreams. Our project manager was able to coordinate multiple teams to work together to address problems and report on issues and progress across business lines, which enabled the delivery of a highly successful end product.
The Difference: Another consulting firm led the program effort and provided less experienced consultants for higher rates than Providge did. Providge provided lower rates that truly suited the project’s budget while offering a PM with both project management and IT expertise. This combination gave her a unique amount of credibility with the engineers and other teams she worked with, and her approach to the work created a new communication culture that remains in place at today.
The Challenge: Capital One was in need of a simplified and comprehensive financial management system that would increase efficiency and effectiveness across the company. At the time, they were utilizing multiple systems and programs that did not talk to each other.
The Solution: Providge was chosen to help with Capital One’s first ERP installation. One of the managing directors at the firm led efforts to implement, test, and customize the chosen system, and his work was so valued the client hired him on for subsequent phases of the project. After two prior failed ERP implementation attempts (by other firms), Capital One finally realized a fully integrated HCM/FSCM ERP.
The Difference: Providge brought much-needed experience and expertise to the client that allowed us to not only get it right the first time but to make sure that the system was doing what it should do—streamlining the client’s internal processes so as to allow the company to focus on its core competencies.
The Challenge: New York University planned to build a brand new campus in Abu Dhabi, one of the most ambitious projects of its kind. The construction was divided into two major phases. First a temporary campus was built in downtown Abu Dhabi, while the new state of the art campus was constructed on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island. NYU and NYUAD engaged Providge to help conceive of and implement the administrative systems needed to run the downtown campus, as well as lend project and portfolio management expertise to assist in the launch of the Saadiyat Island Campus.
The Solution: Our experts led a team that determined which systems were needed for the temporary campus, selected and implemented those systems, and tested their functionality. Our team also trained end users and was onsite in Abu Dhabi for the implementation of the systems. Providge delivered 12+ systems on time and on budget, allowing the back office to begin operating a year before the first students arrived. Additionally, we assisted in the launch of the Saadiyat Campus through effective portfolio management and executive reporting on all infrastructure and transition workstreams to help launch the campus.
The Difference: With this project, Providge took the admin systems piece of the new downtown campus from concept to reality over a two-year period and aided in the launch of one of the most ambitious campus developments in higher education. This project demonstrated our ability to innovate and follow through on difficult and complex international projects.
